The process of re-stuffing a stuffed toy is more complicated than many people realize. It involves carefully removing the old stuffing, cleaning the toy, and then replacing the stuffing with new, high-quality material. The type of stuffing used will depend on the toy and the customer's preferences, but some of the most popular options include synthetic materials like polyester fiberfill, natural materials like wool or cotton, and even recycled materials like shredded clothes or blankets.
One of the biggest benefits of professional re-stuffing services is that they can help to extend the life of a stuffed toy. Over time, the stuffing in a toy can become compressed or discolored, which can make the toy feel less cuddly or even downright uncomfortable. By replacing the stuffing with fresh material, re-stuffing services can help to restore the toy to its original softness and shape, making it more enjoyable to hug and play with.
ASSESSMENT
There are several factors we take into account when assessing a teddy's stuffing and sound needs, including the toy's age, the condition of its existing stuffing, and any specific concerns or preferences of the stuffed animal's owner. Some older plushies may have stuffing materials that are no longer considered safe or suitable for use.
WEIGHT PELLETS
One of the main advantages of plastic weight pellets is their density. Because they are much denser than other stuffing materials, such as fiberfill, they can help give a toy a more realistic weight and feel. This can be especially important for toys that are designed to stand upright, such as teddy bears or dolls. PleaseNote: Weight pellets are not suitable for all types of plushies or all situations.
STUFFING TOUCH-UP
Sometimes out stuffed friends are a little too cuddly. Stuffing touch-ups not only remedy this, but it can help to prevent future damage to your plushie. Lumpy or uneven stuffing can cause strain on the seams of the toy, leading to tears or rips. By ensuring that the stuffing is evenly distributed, stuffing touch-ups can help extend the life of the toy further.
RE-STUFFING
There are times when your stuffed toy will do best with a complete re-stuffing, for a multitude of reasons. Our teddyologists will carefully remove the existing stuffing, separating any sound, squeaker, or other components that are present. The teddyologist will then use new stuffing materials, such as polyester fiberfill and foam to achieve the desired snuggle levels.
SOUNDS AND SQUEAKERS
Sounds and squeakers can range from simple, squeaks, crinkling noises, and bell-like sounds to more complex sound modules that play music or recorded messages. Please Note: We currently do not carry any sounds or squeakers in house at this time. As such they will be ordered on an indivudal basis, which may cause delays.
The total cost of services will be based on Stuffed Friend's size, age, condition, extent of work needed, and other similar factors.
